Our Friends of Elk City State Park Group is hosting an Outdoor Kansas Kids Day this Saturday, May 4th from 10: 00 AM-2:00 PM. This is a "free entry to the park day". They will be having a lot of free giveaways and are hoping to have even more than is listed in the flyer. There will be a helicopter landing from Eagle Med, the Fire Department will be doing bowling. Evergy may be doing bucket rides. The Health Department will be giving out helmets and lifejackets. There will be inflatables and even an archery/bb gun shooting range. We hope that many of our students will be able to attend and enjoy the outdoors this weekend.

April 29, 2024 To: 4th, 5th, and 6th Students and Parents Re: Elementary Track and Field Day Procedures The Elementary Track and Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 10, 2024. Please read and become familiar with the following procedures and expectations for the day. The schedule of events is listed on the back of this sheet. Students will report to school and will walk with their class to the track at approximately 8:30. Each class will be given an area to sit together during the morning events. They will be expected to be there at all times except when in an event. Parents are welcome to sit with their children in this area if they wish. Students are not to sit with their parents in a different area. The morning events will consist of running events. After lunch, there will be 9 stations. All students will rotate approximately every 15-minute to a new station. Students may bring plastic (not glass) drinking bottles with water along with them to have in the stands. Inappropriate use of these bottles in any way will result in the student being remove from the stands. The school provides a sack lunch that is charged to their account accordingly. They will be allowed to bring a morning snack. Students are not to bring iPods, MP3’s, cameras, video games, computer games, etc. as they can distract, get broken, or become lost and North Lawn will not be responsible for these items. Students may need to bring sunscreen, umbrellas, large towels, and/or blankets according to anticipated weather conditions. Students should wear smooth-soled tennis shoes and appropriate dress. Remember that the school dress code is in effect and that tank tops with mesh big enough to see through would not be an appropriate dress. Remember to use appropriate school behavior and that all school personnel from any grade level are equally in charge of the students on this day. Students with behavior issues will not be allowed to attend. All students will be expected to remain in the stands until the Track and Field Day is completed. PLEASE NOTE: Once it is completed, students will return to the school. If parents would like to check them out early, they may sign them out in the NL office. No student will be released at the field this year! IN CASE OF RAIN, TRACK AND FIELD DAY WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, MAY 14, 2024!
