Neodesha USD 461 has an opening for our Middle School / High School Principal. Please apply on the Educate Kansas website: MS/HS Principal.
As many of you know, our Superintendent, Mrs. Juanita Erickson, announced her wish to retire as of 7/1/2026. The Board met this past Tuesday, April 28th, and with great respect and appreciation, we accepted her request to retire. Mrs. Erickson has many notable accomplishments over the past nine years, including the initiation of the Neodesha Promise Scholarship Program, leading the district through a pandemic, and the development and opening of the Neodesha Early Learning Center.
After much discussion regarding how the district will move forward, the Board of Education met today, May 1st, during a Special Meeting where we interviewed and approved the hiring of Mr. Rusty Arnold as the next Superintendent of USD 461. He will begin his new role on July 1, 2026. Mr. Arnold is a graduate of Neodesha High School and has been working as the NHS Principal for the past year. He also brings a wealth of experience in the Superintendent role, having served most recently as Superintendent in Sedan and Independence.
The Board will be working closely with both Mr. Arnold and Mrs. Erickson as the district makes this transition. We hope that you will join us in wishing Mrs. Erickson well and thanking her for her service as well as welcoming Mr. Arnold into his new role. As always, a great educational experience for our students remains our top priority!
It is a great day to be a Bluestreak!
Sincerely,
Kelly Birk
President, USD 461 Board of Education
