The play Greater Tuna is a play featuring a series of sketches about the town Tuna, Texas. It will be performed on November 7th and 8th at 7:30.

The play features a number of quirky characters from the town Tuna, Texas.

Jenna Meseraull said, “I am very happy with the role I got; Petey Fisk is a really funny character.” Petey Fisk is an employee of the Greater Tuna Humane Society.

Kathryn West agreed, “I love the role that I got; it is a fun character to play.” She will play Thurston Wheelis, a DJ for the local radio station.

The play is set in the south. Meseraull said, “One of the reasons I think I got this role is because of the accent I did during the auditions when I read the script.”

West said, “I think I got the role of Thurston Wheelis because I have experience with theater and can handle lots of lines. I also think I will be able to fully develop the character's accent and personality.”

The play is a comedy set in the early 1980s.

Meseraull said, “I love the fact that the play is based in the 1900s. I love that it leans to the comedy side of things.”

West agreed, “I like that the play is humorous. It has been a while since I've been in this intense comedy show, so it will be highly entertaining to see and be in.”

Learning lines is a challenge that can take time.

Meseraull said, “I already have some of my lines somewhat memorized, but to get all of the lines fully memorized is probably 1 to 2-ish months.”

West said, “I think it will likely take me about 2-3 weeks to get my lines down, but it will take 3-4 weeks to be entirely comfortable with the character lines and part as a whole. However, I am not worried about being unprepared because I have done it before in less time.”

Both actors also plan to improve for this performance.  Meseraull said, “I will need to improve on what to do with my arms. I also need to act the role out with my whole body and not just with face and words.”

West said, “I think I need to improve maintaining an accent while being in character and making sure to talk slow enough and funny enough that the jokes actually hit and maintain the humorous intent of the show.”

The play Greater Tuna will be on November 7th and 8th at 7:30 PM.
